Big Third Inning Gives Winnebago Indians Varsity Win Over Illinois Valley Central
Five runs in the third inning led Winnebago past Illinois Valley Central 9-1 on Sunday. The Indians scored on a double by Michael Writt, a single by Scott Schneider, a double by Bryce Bryden, and a fielder’s choice by Zach Myers.
Illinois Valley Central took an early lead in the second inning. Tolly grounded out, scoring one run.
Bago took the lead for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third Michael Writt doubled off of Fogelmark, driving in one run, Scott Schneider singled off of Fogelmark, driving in one run, Bryce Bryden doubled off of Stone, driving in two runs, and Stone induced Zach Myers to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Bryden earned the win for Winnebago. He went seven innings, surrendering one run, five hits, striking out two, and walking one.
The Winnebago Indians had ten hits in the game. Jace Warkentien, Schneider, and Connor Anderson each collected multiple hits for Bago. Anderson, Schneider, and Warkentien each collected two hits to lead the Indians. Bago didn’t commit a single error in the field. Myers had the most chances in the field with six
